FROM IMAGINATION TO REALITY

I love creating stories and figuring out how to get them out into the world.

From editing videos on two VHS players in the early '90s to producing AR Scavenger Hunts across New York's 5 boroughs, I've been passionate about creating narrative art. I've spent most of my career writing and producing theatre and live entertainment, while regularly exploring and experimenting with the latest developments in media and storytelling tech. In 2019, I combined those pursuits and founded TECHNODRAMATISTS to bring the power of real time technologies to the stage and beyond.

What makes live entertainment special is that you have to be there to experience it.
But sometimes when you're playing with a new technology you end up making something that lives only in the digital universe (No, I'm not promoting the metaverse, kmn). Sometimes you build something awesome that's meant to be experienced while sitting at home in your underwear.

So I made this website to share those types of things.

Lorne Svarc is a Canadian writer, producer and creative technologist. He spends his time between Montreal and New York, writing, producing and creative technologizing. His work has been featured on the stage, screen and streets across North America and a tiny bit of Europe. He is a leader in the burgeoning medium of Augmented Reality theatre, producing a wide range of work from AR Shakespeare to Autokorrect: the first ever mixed reality improv team.

Lorne served as Chief Content Officer at Zollpa, where he led world-building and narrative design for the third-person shooter, Zoran's Revolution.

He has been a featured speaker at AWE, Immerse Global Summit, LaMama Culturehub and the subject of the Wondrium documentary Imagining Tomorrow’s Entertainment. He is a mentor with The Writer’s Guild of America Initiative, leading creative writing workshops for military veterans. His passions include purchasing eyewear, playing the ukulele and all things cows. But mostly he just likes hanging with his wife, two daughters and geriatric shih tzu.

Along the way, I’ve accidentally picked up a wide range of skills.

Technology is fun, but it's not what gets me out of bed in the morning (that job belongs to whichever small child decides to show up at my bedside demanding cheese before the sun has risen). I love making up stories and figuring out how to get them into the world. I'd write fortune cookies if that was what the job called for. I'm currently adapting my grandmother's post-war diary and am have a children's novel coming out next year. At the same time, I'm working on a mixed reality musical and developing an AI dating show. So when it comes to tech, I'll use whatever is best suited for the story, or none at all. Along the way, I’ve accidentally picked up a wide range of skills. I'll even list some of them for you:
